Description: size range = 1/8 to 1 inch. A syrphid fly is often mistaken for a bee. This non-stinging fly can commonly be seen hovering near flowers.
Biology: Egg -Larvae- Pupa- Adult. Single syrphid fly eggs are lain on their sides near aphids. The larval form feeds on aphids and adult form feeds on pollen & nectar, thereby acting as a pollinator.
